KwaThema – A 53-year-old woman was recently robbed by two unknown men while walking along Khumbuzile Street.
It is alleged that the men zoomed in on the woman and pointed her a firearm at her demanding money and a cellphones.
KwaThema police spokesperson Captain Thabo Sibuyi, says the woman gave them the R10 she had and they grabbed her cell phone and then fled the scene.
“The woman was unharmed during the incident; however, a case of a robbery with a firearm is being investigated.
“We are warning the residents, especially women and children, to avoid walking alone on the streets at night as they may become easy targets for criminals.
“They should always be on the lookout for any suspicious people following or approaching them.
“If you feel threatened at any time, rather turn back or move towards people you know can help you.
“We also cannot stress enough how important it is for people to know their sector vehicle numbers so that they can contact these numbers when in trouble,” he says.
