KwaThema workshop to help fight depression and abandonment

“Through the workshop we will giving those who are struggling with emotions of a platform to express themselves".

KwaThema – Nhlanhla Ndaba says depression comes in different forms and, if not dealt with, could lead to destruction.

She says she suffered from depression as a result of being abandoned by her loved one and being lonely.

She will therefore be hosting a workshop to help people with depression understand and cope with this issue.

This lead to a daily struggle with suicidal thoughts.

“Often people who are suffering from depression and other mental conditions are told to snap out of it without anyone taking time out to understand their condition better.

“Through the workshop, we will give those who are struggling with emotions a platform to express themselves.

“We have professionals who will be giving motivational talks and teaching those who are going through this on how to deal with it.

“We will also focus on how one can be able to move on from this and how it affects the children and other family members.

“We often overlook this and expect people to snap out of such emotions but this should not be the case.

“We want them to know that they are not alone and there are platforms where they can seek help,” she says.

Nonhlahla says they will also link them to the different professionals who will help them recover.

“I am a living testimony that it can be done and I dedicate my life to help others,” she says.

The event will be hosted on August 5 at the Church of England in South Africa from 2pm to 5pm at the corner of Kataza and Walaza streets.
