Duduza – A body was found in the open veld next to Duduza SAPS and Duduza Fire Station by the members of the municipal Parks and Recreation Department on Monday.
The team was cutting the long grass in the area when they stumbled across the body.
Duduza police spokesperson Sargent Harry Manaka says the undidentified had started to decompose.
“Police are investigating the cause of death and are also trying to identify the body by consulting the missing person register.
Manaka says the area is notoriously for criminals hiding in the long grass and targeting residents of Duduza and John Dube.
“They mug, assault and rob them of their valuables.
“We are calling on residents to avoid using the area as a shortcut because it puts their lives in danger.
“We will continue to find means to clean and cut down the long grass to make the area visible for those who use it,” he says.
