Inclusion and interaction to share love with special needs children

The children were born with physically challenged, they are part of the community and should not be isolated.

Tsakane – The children and teachers at Shield of Love Day Care Centre spent their day playing with the children with special needs at Tsakane Therapy Centre on Friday.

This was part of the inclusive interaction programme between the children who are physically challenged and those who are not.

Nomsa Matonsela of Shield of Love Day Care Centre says they decided to spend the day with the children and donated food parcels and other goodies to the centre.

“We wanted the children to play and share what they have learned, with the children of Tsakane Therapy Centre.

“We know that we don’t have the same programmes and skills but through regular interaction, the children won’t feel isolated.

“They are part of the community and should be treated as such,” she says.

She says each child in the centre and their parents gave food, clothes and other goodies to make the donation possible.

Mandla Gxowa of Tsakane Therapy Centre says they are grateful for the help and support they receive from the community.

“Our children were born only physically challenged; they are still human and part of the community.

“When we receive regular visits, and other children visit and play with them, they also feel that they are loved and appreciated.

Mandla says this is part of the first annual event and they will continue inviting other organisations in the area to allow their children to interact with one another.
