Church takes care of its own

Tsakane – In celebration of the upcoming Mandela Day, The Agreement Church of Christ Church donated groceries to pensioners on Sunday.

“We realised that there is a great need among the elderly, and we wanted to lend a hand at this time in honor of 67 minutes,” says Archbishop David Nkosi.

Nkosi explains that they approached local business owners to assist them with staple food items.

“When they heard what we were planning to do, they agreed to help us and gave us even more than we expected.”

Gogo Sbongile Tshabalala joyfully received the gift from the church.

“This will make such a huge difference in my home,” she said adding that although she is very grateful for the grant she is receives from the state, it does not support her and her grandchildren comfortably until the end of the month.

“I am grateful that the church recognizes our struggles as pensioners, and I hope they are encouraged to do even more.

I know that these people did not have to go out of their way to help us.”

Nkosi explained that the church’s goal is to provide people with a meal every Sunday so that no one goes home with an empty stomach.

“For us this was just a step in the right direction. And now that we have found people who are willing and able help us, we are going in full force,” she said.
