Men’s foundation reaches out to women

The Caswell Movement-Stop Men Abuse! is just as passionate stopping women abuse.

KwaThema – The Caswell Movement, Stop Men Abuse, is just as passionate about stopping the abuse of women.

“We don’t condone any behaviour that harms anyone, man, woman or child,” says Bheki Bikela.

The organisation has come out publicly to take a stand against violence towards women and to encourage other men to do the same.

“The problem is that if we say nothing, we will all be painted with the same brush.

“And it is not true that #MenAreTrash.”

Bikela says there are a few rotten apples that are spoiling the whole bunch.

Neo Senong says that as a young man, the negative perceptions that women now have about men affects his chances of finding a suitable partner.

“Girls are now afraid of us, but we are trying to change that by helping them take their power back.

“Now good men like us have to work extra hard to prove that we have good intentions.”

Caswell Gxowa, founder of the movement, strongly believes that people would get help if they were not so afraid to come forward.

“You must blow the whistle the first time something happens.

“Don’t wait and keep quiet while someone continues to mistreat you.”

Gxowa says they are often approached by women who fall victim to abuse.

“Although the organisation was established for men, we are happy to help women.

“We support them until the very end.”

He adds that love should not hurt. Any time people get into a relationship, both of them need to consent to whatever happens between them.
