Three men hijack couple

Police warn residents not to park in quiet streets, especially late at night.

KwaThema – A couple was hijacked along Ramothibe Street in KwaThema last Thursday.

It is alleged the complainant (28) was with his girlfriend (21) inside his white Polo Six BT 16 DS GP when the incident occurred.

Police spokesman Captain Thabo Sibuyi says the two were approached by three males driving a white bakkie with an unknown registration number.

“One of the men was allegedly carrying a firearm.

“The couple was instructed to lie down inside the vehicle. Then the men drove off with them, until they reached a veld at Germiston, where they left them unharmed.

“A case was then reported at the Germiston Police Station.

“No arrests have been made and the vehicle has not yet been found,” he says.

Sibuyi continues to warn drivers to avoid parking their vehicles outside their yards or in quiet streets, especially late at night or in the early hours of the morning.

“Anyone with information can contact the KwaThema police on 011 812 4600,” he says.
