Junior choir members become regional champions

Phumlani Primary School's junior choir has become regional champions.

Tsakane – Phumlani Primary School’s junior choir has come out head and shoulders above the rest to become Ekurhuleni champions.

The junior choir consists of learners from Grade Three and Four.

“They had an excellent performance when we competed in the cluster levels in May,” says Khanyisile Huma, coordinator of the cultural committee.

Phumlani Primary School intermediate choir also participated and won the cluster competition in their group.

“Our intermediate group made it to the regionals and they came second.”

The choir’s conductor, Thulani Maqungo, says he is proud of the learners who have been preparing since the beginning of the school year.

“These successes encourage learners who don’t participate in extra mural activities.

They are encouraged to be champions when they see their peers do well,” says principal Nakeni Nzoyi.
