KwaThema Men’s Forum to take a memorandum against women and child abuse to police

KwaThema – KwaThema Men’s Forum refuses to stand by and watch violence against women and children destroy the community.

“It is disheartening to hear about, almost every day now, a woman or child being violated and suffer abuse by a man,” says Mduduzi Mthembu.

He says the forum can no longer stand on the side-lines, they need to take a stand.

“We came up with the idea of having a march, because we want good men to come out and be seen.

We don’t want to hide.”

Mthembu adds they want to revive the spirit of ubuntu in the community.

“It is not good that we are all ‘minding our own businesses’.

“You need to know what is going on with your neighbour, and then you can help.”The forum believes most of the community’s problems can be solved if people come together and seek solutions.

The march will take place on June 11, from KwaThema CCC, at 9am, and members want to walk to KwaThema Police Station to hand over a memorandum.

Mthembu says justice needs to be upheld.

“We cannot have guilty people walking the streets as if they have done nothing wrong.

“The police must also do their part to help us.”

KwaThema Men’s Forum meets every Thursday, at 10am, on the corner of Job Maseko and Thema roads, and they invite all men to join them in their quest to cure social ills.

“We offer the services of social workers and encourage anyone who has a problem to reach out to us for help,” he adds.
