KwaThema police officer found dead in her home

KwaThema - A 34-year-old KwaThema police officer was found dead with a cable tie around her neck at her home in KwaThema.

It is alleged she had also taken an overdose of her medication.

According to KwaThema police spokesman Warrant Officer Peter Tebeila, a family member says the deceased had taken a handful of her medication.

“She then tied a cable tie around her neck but, when she realised it was too tight, tried to cut it off with a knife and ended up cutting herself.

“She then tried to cut it with a pair of scissors but she couldn’t.

“She walked towards the window to open it but she collapsed,” he says.

Tebeila says the police patrolling in the area received a call from the family.

“When they arrived they found the deceased on the floor and called the ambulance.

“She was declared dead at the scene,” he says.
