Suspected mashonisa found shot dead

KwaThema - A woman suspected to be a mashonisa (loan shark) was shot dead in the early hours of Friday morning.

It is alleged the woman had woken up to wake up her grandchildren, who were sleeping in the outside rooms.

KwaThema police spokesman Warrant Officer Peter Tibeila says it is alleged the woman was confronted by three men who were armed with guns.

“They forced her back into the bedroom, where her boyfriend was still sleeping.

“They shot her numerous times in her upper body and she died on the scene.

“The boyfriend was also shot in the upper body but was rushed to the local hospital, where he is receiving medical attention,” he says.

Tebeila says the suspects have not been caught.

The police are calling on community members to come forward with any information about the incident.
