Showcasing kasi talent

Tsakane - Nthabiseng Lebese (31) has started an initiative for local artists to showcase their talent.

She is the founder of East Flair social market, which was initiated in August.

She holds monthly social market events where young people in the area are given an opportunity to display their designs, free of charge.

Nthabiseng says she realised there were many young people in the area who were talented but didn’t have platforms to showcase their talent.

“In August I decided to start this initiative on a zero budget but there was a good turnover.

“We invite people in craft, fashion designers, DJs, graphic designers and others to sell themselves to their potential clients.

“Many people in the community travel to towns to access the services which they think are not available in the townships.

“Through this platform they are able to interact with different artists and see what is on offer.

“This also offers them a platform to be confident in what they do,” she says.

Nthabiseng says artists in the area are encouraged to register to participate in the event.

“A ticket for those interested is R50 at 72 Moria Street in Geluksdal in Endaweni.

“For more information I can be contacted on 078 5828 848, on Facebook East Flair and on Ntha-Flair on Instagram,” she says.
