Join KwaThema Girls Forum

KwaThema - Refiloe Mgcina, founder of KwaThema Girls Forum, spoke recently on a live broadcast of Daily Thetha to encourage men and women to break the silence on rape.

Having experienced a sexual trauma at the hands of a relative, Mgcina draws strength from her own story.

“It doesn’t matter who is doing it; it can never be right,” she explains.

Mgcina says that the most painful part is when parents forbid their own flesh and blood from reporting rape, especially when it is family member that is the perpetrator.

“People don’t realise is the victims carry so much anger, bitterness and monster.

She warned parents that it is these emotions that turn their children into enemies in their own homes.

“There is so much promiscuity and other disorders in our country and all we do is judge without knowing the root cause.”

Mgcina believes that the community should also seek to understand and be less eager to judge.

“John 3:16 says ‘For God so loved the world that He gave…’ If you love your country you will help and work hand in hand with the government by contributing positively to the country to make it a better and a safe place to live in.”

Anyone who will like to join KwaThema Girls Forum is invited to their next meeting on April 27, behind KKK shops at Hlakuva Street, Silver Shack.

Mgcina goes on to explain that Girls Forum is a movement not just for rape victims, but also for any young women to empower themselves through motivation and other activities.
