School grooms young leaders

KwaThema - Twenty-two Grade 7 learners from Qedusizi Primary School have been inaugurated as school prefects for 2017.

School principal Thembeleni Mahlangu says the learners were chosen based on their academic performance, dedication and respect.

“Their core responsibility is to work hand in hand with educators.

“Their duties include helping in keeping the school surroundings clean, monitoring school furniture and keeping discipline during school devotion,” she says.

Mahlangu says the young leaders are taught to be confident leaders and to show respect towards teachers.

“They also have to treat their peers fairly, to help one another to have courage to face challenges and to commit to excellence in everything they do.

“They are also expected to uphold the rules and values of the school,” she says.
