The accident was reported to have taken place around 8pm, on the corner of Jack Phala Street and Thema Road.
KwaThema police spokesman, Captain Thabo Sibuyi, says that members of the EMPD who were working in the area went to the scene and found a white vehicle and a man lying on the ground.

“It was alleged that the driver of the vehicle had accidentally hit the man who was on foot, with his car.
“Upon inspection, it was discovered that the vehicle was damaged on the left front headlight and on the windscreen.
“The victim was declared dead on the scene by paramedics,” he says.
“The suspect was then taken in for his blood sample to be drawn, because it was suspected he was under the influence of alcohol.

“He was arrested for culpable homicide and drunken driving and will soon appear in court,” says Sibuyi.
