Dance group to participate in competition

Duduza - Via Duduza Youth Club will be representing Kwatsaduza in the Gauteng Dance Manyana Competition on the weekend.

The pantsula dance team has won the competition four times since 2006.

Group leader, Jabu Ngwenya (24) says they are looking forward to winning the competition.

He says the group was formed in 2005 to help keep the youth from the streets.

“We realised there were many young people in the area who were talented.

“We decided to form an arts group to offer the youth a platform to express themselves on stage,” he says.

Jabu says they have a unique style that sets them apart from other teams in the province.

“We are dedicated to our craft and always try to come up with different ways to improve some of our moves,” he says.

Jabu says that through the years they have won numerous competitions.

“The awards help us to build the team’s morale and get recognition for their hard work,” he says.

Jabu says one of their biggest dreams to build an arts club house for all the artists in the area.

“We will all work together under one roof and be able to offer formal training to the upcoming artists.

“No everyone is meant to work in the office, some can be artists.

“They need support to make it in the entertainment world,” he says.

Jabu says they would also like to choreograph for some of the countries big artists.
