Rape and house robbery investigated

KwaThema – Four men held a couple at gunpoint, raped the woman and drove off with her car.

This after the couple had gone out for the night and returned at around 11pm.

According to the KwaThema police spokesman, Captain Thabo Sibuyi, when the couple returned home they were accosted by four men wearing balaclavas, inside their yard.

“The men pointed firearms at them and forced them into the house.

“They tied up the man with rope, put him in the toilet of the house then closed the door.

“They then took the woman into another room,”

Sibuyi says that after some time when the complainant heard it was quiet in the house, he screamed for help and neighbours came and untied him.

“He went to search for the woman, who was found in a traumatic state and could not speak.

“She was rushed to a nearby hospital, where it was discovered that she had been raped.

“She was treated and released on the same day,” he says.

Sibuyi says that the woman’s white Audi A3 had been taken along with two cellphones and a play station.

“On Monday morning, at about 10am, the police received a tip off from the community.

“We followed up on it and found the vehicle abandoned at the Marikana squatter camp.

“The vehicle was locked and the owner was called to bring a spare key, while finger prints were collected,” he adds.

Sebola says that the police are investigating a case of house robbery and rape.
