Emergency care practitioner dies in fatal accident

Kwatsaduza - Firefighter and emergency care practitioner Sheila Masemola was killed in a fatal vehicle accident over the weekend.

Ekurhuleni metro spokesman, Themba Gadebe, says that Sheila, together with a colleague who is in a critical but stable condition in the N17 Hospital, were travelling on the Tonk Meter Road between Duduza and KwaThema.

“They were traveling in an ambulance when the emergency vehicle got involved in an accident with a Toyota Hilux.

“The driver of the Hilux escaped with minor bruises,” he says.

Themba says the driver was arrested for allegedly driving under the influence of alcohol.

“The matter is under police investigation,” he says.

The mayor, Mzwandile Masina, has extended his heartfelt condolences to the family, friends and colleagues.

The city’s chaplains are providing counselling support to the family of the deceased.
