Local shopping centre gives back

Tsakane - It has been a great start to the year for 85 learners from Sizuzile Primary School, who recently received brand-new pairs of school shoes.

The donation was made possible by a local mall in Tsakane, as part of its annual back-to-school drive.

Along with the shoes, the learners were also given stationery.

Representatives from the mall visiting the school during the handover say this donation is aimed at helping underprivileged learners.

“As a mall, we recognised a need to contribute in a positive way to communities surrounding our shopping centre.

“We have done this for many years, by committing ourselves to supporting their educational initiatives.

“Providing these essentials is a tangible and practical solution to provide relief to the children and their families,” says mall spokesperson Zani Dludlu.

School principal Somahle Mavi shares her appreciation for this donation.

“We are happy, while the children are excited, as some started the new academic year without proper shoes.

“This has been such a blessing, especially since they called and offered to donate.

“Teachers then identified those learners who were most in need, and seeing the joy on the learners’ faces when they saw these shoes was so overwhelming.

“Thank you for this gesture. It is truly appreciated and will make a huge difference, especially since most of our parents don’t work,” she says.
