Going beyond the call of duty

KwaThema - The KwaThema police recently donated new school uniforms to learners from two primary schools in the area.

These were Ntokozweni and KwaThema primary schools.

Thirty-seven learners benefited from this initiative.

The donation was made possible by members of the Visible Policing Unit, Men for Change and Women’s Network. The last two are forums made up of SAPS officers.

Also present at the handover ceremonies was the KwaThema Acting Station Commander, Lieut Col Mareketle Elsie Malapane.

“These noble officers dug deep into their own pockets to ensure that these needy learners are taken care of, especially in the new school year.

“This also forms part of our many projects that we conduct as a station, to continuously show our love, care and support to the community we serve,” says police spokesman Capt Thabo Sibuyi.

School principal of KwaThema Primary School, Marcus More, applauded the gesture.

“It is really heart-warming that these officers, despite their busy schedule, managed to come and visit our school and donate to these learners.
