Robber flees with R3 000

KwaThema - A 24-year-old man was robbed of R3 000 on Saturday morning.

This happened while he was at a bus stop at corner of Habede Street and Vlakfontein Road.

According to police spokesman Capt Thabo Sibuyi, the man says that at about 10am he placed his jacket on top of his bag.

The jacket had his cellphone and money in it.

An unknown man then joined him.

“Shortly after, the second man asked to use the complainant’s cellphone, and he agreed as he did not suspect anything.

“And after using the phone, he handed it back to the owner.

“The duo continued to wait together until the complainant received a call. It is believed that while he was distracted the unknown man searched his jacket, took the money and fled,” says Sibuyi.

When the victim checked the pockets of his jacket, the money was nowhere to be found.

No arrests have been made.
