Pensioner takes on new business venture

KwaThema - Mkhulu Christopher Namane (68) has ventured into a new business, in the hopes of creating a legacy for his children and grandchildren.

The old man is starting a meat cutting business with his youngest son, which he’s thrilled about.

Namane previously worked for a company that deals with packaging for over 20 years.

“A few months before it was time to go to pension in 2008, my wife died.

“That was a huge blow for me, as I was looking forward to spending more time and working with her,” he says.

After surviving that ordeal, his daughter died in a car accident, a few years later.

Again he had to dig deep within himself, to find ways to survive.

To avoid sitting around, Namane bought machines for future investments in general carpentry and welding among other activities.

“Though I love these businesses as they help me help others, they bring in work at a slow pace.

“So I did research and found that I could do better if I went into the meat cutting business, which I registered and will soon be starting.

“This will be great, as it will mean people won’t have to go far for this kind of service,” he says.

Namane hopes that this new business will grow and help him in creating employment for those around him.

The only thing left for him to find, is a suitable space to run his new business from.
