Residents catches thief

KwaThema - The police have commended a man from the community who helped catch a robber on Sunday evening.

According to police spokesman, Capt Thabo Sibuyi, a woman (age unknown) was walking along Kgaswane and Mafilika streets when two men came her way.

One allegedly pointed a firearm at her while the other took her bag and ran.

“While the woman was standing, a man from the community went to her, asked what happened and chased the robber with the bag.

“He was able to catch him while the other managed to escape.

“The 21-year-old suspect was taken to the station and arrested,” says Sibuyi.

Police have commended the man who stopped to help and catch the suspect.

“We need more people like him who will help us in reducing crime on our streets.

“This way criminals will be afraid to take chances as they will never know who is watching them,” he says.

No firearm has been recovered but police are still searching for the second man who was involved in this crime.
