Mokgothu will be missed

KwaThema - Maxwell ‘Max’ Mosalasuping Mokgothu was born on July 12, 1985, in Springs.

He was the first born son of the late David Nkagisang and Esther Mokgothu.

The 31-year-old began his primary school education at Mesega Primary School, in the North West town of Zeerust.

He completed Grade Seven at Bakerton Primary School and thereafter went to Springs Secondary School, where he completed his matric.

Mokgothu then attended the Ekurhuleni East College Benoni Campus where he obtained a national certificate (N6).

In 2006, he started working at Pilkington (PFG) and in 2008 took up employment at First National Bank (FNB).

In 2012, Mokgothu joined the Ekurhuleni Metro Police Department (EMPD) Peace Corps and served his community for two years.

“Last Wednesday, my brother finally signed a permanent contract as an EMPD officer, something he was very proud of.

“Sadly, however, he went to sleep that night and didn’t wake up the next day,” says Papi Mokgothu, the only sibling and surviving family member.

“He was a devoted Christian who committed his life to Christ. He was baptised and confirmed at the Central Methodist Church.

“Maxwell loved serving the Lord and was dedicated to maintaining peace and order in the community,” he says.

He adds that Maxwell was passionate about ensuring that young and old were safe while crossing the streets of KwaThema and enjoyed directing traffic at major intersections.

“The elderly also loved him for his work, as he helped protect them when they went to collect their social grants,” he says.

The funeral service will be held at the Central Methodist Church, in Kgaswane Street, at 6am on Saturday.

The cortege will leave for the Vlakfontein Cemetery at 9am, where Mokgothu will be laid to rest.
