Tsakane’s pass rates for 2016

Tsakane - Some of the schools in Tsakane experienced a decline in their 2016 matric pass rate compared to the previous year, however others saw an increase in their pass rate.

JE Malepe Secondary School has shown an improvement in its matric pass rate.

It achieved 92.74% for 2016; an increase from 84.8% in 2015.

The school was able to achieve 45 distinctions, 82 bachelor degree exemptions, 131 diploma passes and 17 higher certificates.

Out of 248 learners who wrote their matric, 230 passed.

Reshogofaditswe Secondary School’s pass rate increased from 73.42% in 2015 to 87.21% in 2016.

It managed to get 20 distinctions, 53 bachelor passes, 51 diploma passes and 12 higher certificates,

from 133 learners who sat for the matric exams – of whom 116 passed.

Principal Bongani Malaza says they are excited, as the school has improved in the quality of the results.

Langaville Secondary School managed a pass rate of 83.81%.

The school achieved 37 bachelors passes, 64 diplomas, 44 higher certificates and 12 distinctions.

Of the 173 matrics who wrote, 145 achieved a pass.

Buhlebemfundo Secondary School’s 2016 pass rate is 78.29%, with the following achieved: 48 distinctions, 60 bachelors, 81 diplomas and 43 higher certificates.

Out of the 235 learners who wrote the exams, 184 passed.

Tsakane Secondary School’s matric pass rate decreased from 86.30% to 75%.

There were 188 learners in total who sat for the matric exams and 141 passed.

The school achieved 35 bachelor degree exemptions, 77 diplomas, 29 higher certificates and 21 distinctions.

Principal Pearl Ngcobo says since being a principal at the school from 2013, it’s the first time they’ve obtained a pass rate below 80%.

“We had some challenges and our learners weren’t committed to their work, regardless of all the support given to them.

“As a school, we hope to do better this year,” she says.

Memellong Comprehensive School obtained a pass rate of 73.45%, which is an increase compared to 2015’s 72.9%.

The school managed to get 18 distinctions, 34 bachelors, 30 diplomas and 19 higher certificates.

Only 83 learners achieved their pass out of 113 who wrote the matric exams.

Tholulwazi Secondary School’s class of 2016 obtained an 66.5% pass rate – a decline from the 81.12% pass rate by the class of 2015.

The school achieved 38 bachelor degree exemptions, 66 diploma exemptions, 31 higher certificates and 15 distinctions.

A total of 203 learners wrote the matric exams and only 135 passed.
