Teachers go the extra mile

Kwatsaduza – Local teachers sacrifice Saturdays to teach extra lessons.

The Focus on Maths and Languages (FOMAL) Saturday School was started in 2013 to provide extra lessons for learners from Grade Three to Grade Nine.

Project manager Eldah Morulane explains that these teachers sacrifice their Saturdays to help improve the performance of young people.

“Children who attend are from the township and from schools around Springs, Nigel and Brakpan.

“The school is a non-profit organisation, however we have dedicated, committed and qualified teachers,” she says.

She further explains that the employment of a teacher is mainly based on their expertise in the field of education.

“Our plea is for parents to support us and to prepare for their children’s future now, by making learning a priority while they are still young,” Morulane encourages.
