The incident occurred at about 3.30am while the couple was making its way across the sporting facility, after New Year celebrations.
According to the complainant, she was walking with her boyfriend from Interland, when they were approached by two unknown men in the middle of the sports complex.

Both men were armed, one with firearm and another with a sharp object.
“The men allegedly assaulted the man without saying any a word.
“One of the men proceeded to take the woman to at nearby tree, where he raped her and the other followed and did the same.
“The men then ordered the woman not to look at them and fled the scene,” says KwaThema police spokesman Capt Thabo Sibuyi.

When the woman went to check on her boyfriend, he was lying on the ground and not moving.
He had sustained wounds to his head and face and was later declared dead by paramedics on the scene.
No items were taken from the couple.
Police have confirmed that they are investigating a case of murder and of rape.
“We ask that people should avoid walking in dark and quiet places, especially late at night or in the early hours of the morning,” pleads Sibuyi.
