The baby was discovered by a resident who was going to lock his gate before going to bed.
“The man saw a shopping bag that was placed on top of the blanket at the corner of his house.
“When he checked what was in the bag, he noticed that there was a note on top of the bag and the baby boy inside.
“Police and paramedics were called and the baby was taken for a medical check-up,” says police spokesman Sgt Lerato Mngomezulu.

She adds police are investigating a case of child abandonment and are looking for the mother of the child.
“We are asking for the community’s assistance in solving this matter,” she says.
Anyone who may know the whereabouts of the mother or who can assist with any information can contact the SAPS Family Violence and Sexual Offences Unit (FCS).
