Roseview crowned Primary School of the Year

Duduza - Roseview Primary School has been crowned as the Primary School of the Year - for sport.

The award was given to the school recently at the Gauteng East District School Sport Awards, at the Bakerton Community Hall.

Sports organiser at the school, Mzwandile Sibiya, shares the feedback that they’re very happy with the award.

Sibiya says that the award comes after the school’s u/13 netball team won all their local competitions early in the year.

They then progressed to the district level, where they also played very well – which resulted in them being selected to play at the national championship in Cape Town in June.

And although they also played very well there, unfortunately the Roseview team only finished in second place.

“We’re very proud as a school to win this award out of all the Gauteng East schools, because we were nominated with Phumlani Primary School and Gugulesizwe Primary School.

“We also don’t have a proper levelled netball court ourselves, which shows that through hard work and dedication, you can do anything you put your mind to.

“It’s indeed a great achievement – for the learners, teachers and the school,” Sibiya concluded.
