School rewards learners

KwaThema – The Qedusizi Primary School teachers and principal have celebrated their top achieving learners through an award ceremony.

According to the principal Bethuel Mhlanga, this is an annual event held in the fourth term.

“We hold the award ceremony for learners who have performed well, not just in the first or last term but throughout the year.

“As the staff, we therefore look at different learning areas that the children participate in.

“In addition to this, we also select the four top achievers in Grade Four, Five, Six and Seven as a way of motivating and encouraging our learners,” he says.

Leading the pack in Grade Four was Boitumelo Matiwane, while the top achiever in Grade Five was by Zama Ngubane.

Sakhile Mngwevu took the top spot in Grade Six while the Grade Seven top learner award went to Sihle Mahlangu.

Mlanga adds that these rewards also help in encouraging parental support in the academic life of their children from a young age.

“It is important for us to mention that, as a school, we believe every child has potential.

“Our learners just need to work hard and be dedicated to their schoolwork to achieve the desired results,” he encourages.
