Seniors to hand over petition to mayor

Tsakane – A group of seniors who call themselves the ‘Tsakane Concerned Pensioners’ (TCP) will conduct a peaceful match on Tuesday.

This is so they get hand over a petition at the Tsakane Customer Care Centre (CCC) to Mayor Mzwandile Masina, with a list of grievances they have.

“As the TCP, we sent a request to the Masina to avail himself on November 29 at noon, as we aim to hand him our petition over to him.

“Some of the issues that we’ve raised include us no longer being able to afford the high estimated rates, plus the cost of services being too high and unaffordable.

“Further, our pension funds don’t increase as high as the rent and service rates, while apart from these services we must maintain our grandchildren, pay for burial societies or insurance and more,” says mhkulu Peter Phora (78).

He adds that they are very concerned and cannot afford the expensive grave fees, which burial societies and insurances no longer cater for.

The TCP invites other seniors of Tsakane, Geluksdal and Langaville to join them at this march.

The pensioners will meet at the Faranani Multi-Purpose Centre from 8.45am- and start their march to the CCC at 9am.
