Police warning to locals

Duduza - The community of Duduza is being urged by the police to take into consideration the safety of their valuables during this festive season.

Police spokesman Sgt Happy Manaka, says people have worked hard to save cash in order to get themselves good things at this time of the year.

Yet, there are criminals who target the community – to rob and deprive them of the benefits of their hard earned money and property.

The police therefore encourage that:

• The community looks out for stranger ‘followers’ bank – especially after withdrawing cash from banks and ATM’s.

• When going on holiday, ensure that you properly lock your house – and that at least one of your family members visits the vacant house regularly, to check if everything is still in order.

• When driving, look around you and take note of any suspicious vehicles following you – particularly for a long time or distance.

• Be vigilant when you approach your driveway and gates; look out for people standing next to your yard.

• Have the police emergency numbers to hand.

• Women are warned not to accept liquor offers from strangers.

• Avoid walking alone at night and be careful at all times, to be safe.

• Remember to not be a hero, as your life is worth more than valuable items.

Manaka encourages all locals to protect themselves and enjoy the festive season, by being part of a safer community.
