Trio target brothers

KwaThema - Police are investigating a case of robbery with a firearm.

This comes after a complainant (33) and his brother were robbed, after withdrawing R26 500 on Monday at about 11.15am.

“The complainant and his brother went to the bank at the Tsakane Mall to withdraw money to buy a vehicle.

“The alleged seller of the car proceeded to ask them to meet with him at the Duduza Taxi Rank.

“On arrival, the brothers found the man with a woman in the Tazz, which he was going to sell to the complainant,” explains the police’s Capt Thabo Sibuyi.

The seller then allegedly suggested that the brothers should drive with them to a house at Mlangeni Street, to collect the vehicle’s papers.

And at the time, the complainant had R6 500 on him while his brother had R20 000.

“On arrival at the place, the woman stayed in the car with the brothers.

“While waiting, the three were approached by three unknown men armed with a firearm.

“Then men went straight to the complainant, searched him and took R5 000.

“In addition the robbers demanded the money the brother had,” adds Sibuyi.

The men took the money, a cellphone and car keys and fled the scene in a bakkie.

No arrests have been made.
