Driver hijacked by hitchhikers

KwaThema - An act of kindness has left a 45-year-old man in distress, after losing his possessions.

The complainant was driving through the intersection of Thema Road and Majola Street, heading towards Tsakane on Wednesday at 10pm.

He saw three men hitchhiking and stopped to offer them a lift.

“The trio dived into the vehicle and shortly after, the man who was sitting on the passenger seat took out a firearm and pointed it at the driver.

“The driver was told to continue driving until they reached Geduld in Springs.

“It was then that the driver was instructed to get out of the vehicle and to take off his clothes, while the firearm kept facing his direction,” says Capt Thabo Sibuyi.

The trio then allegedly drove off in the white Chevrolet Spark.

The complainant lost his cellphone, identity document and drivers license, as they were left inside the vehicle during the incident.

No arrests have been made.
