Learners get education on being writers

Kwatsaduza – After making a call to learners interested in learning more about creative writing and publishing, 14 Grade Seven and Eight learners from around Kwatsaduza came forward to participate in the initiative.

The project was conducted by the Talents and Arts Organisation and classes took place every Wednesday at the Muso Primary School.

Project director, founder and senior trainer of the organisation, Vusi Nhlapho, explained that they invited young talented writers in early August to apply for writing classes in Duduza.

“The selected candidates were then called for training sessions, which were held during September and October.

“We are pleased with the way the classes went, as we had learners from both Muso Primary School and N.N. Ndebele Secondary School participate in them.

“Through the help of Muso Primary School staff members, we’ve been able to help promote creative writing and the craft of writing short stories, in the townships,” Nhlapho says.

He added that the group of learners will visit a publishing house in Melrose Arch, to see how things work there, on November 17.

They will receive certificates and awards afterwards.
