School congratulates learner

Duduza – Teaching staff at the Sizwesethu Primary School are celebrating the excellence of their nine-year-old shining star, Palesa Mnguni.

The young girl has been competing in a maths competition that started in August.

In the first round, Mnguni participated at the schools level, which was hosted by Roseview Primary School, and came in third place.

On September 28 she proceeded to the district level at the Dalpark Teachers Centre, where she managed to make it into the second spot.

The confident youngster also came out tops and was named the Priority Girl at that stage of the competition in the mental maths challenge.

That success awarded the young girl an opportunity to represent the Gauteng East District in the provincial stage which took place at the Sci-Bono Discovery Centre on October 18.

“Now all we are awaiting for is for Mnguni to attend an honours evening which will take place on November 5.

“That is where the final results will be disclosed.

“As a school we are really proud and congratulate our learner for making it this far in the competition,” says class teacher Lindiwe Khoza.

She adds that the learner’s hard work and dedication has indeed paid off.

“This also shows that we as teachers are working hard, which we are very grateful for,” she says.
