Robbers take off with R5 000 in KwaThema

KwaThema - Two suspects robbed a petrol station on the corner of Nkosi and Kgaswane roads on Monday.

Employees were counting money at 12.50am when they heard someone kicking the door open.

Capt Thabo Sibuye, SAPS spokesman, says only one of the suspects entered the building.

“He was armed with a rifle and ordered the employees to lie down on the floor,” he says.

Shortly thereafter the second suspect entered the building and the two suspects left the employees.

“One suspect returned and asked if anyone of the employees had pressed the panic button,” says Sibuye.

The suspects went to the safe but couldn’t open it and returned to the room where the employees were.

Sibuye says one of the suspects took R5 000 cash from the till and both suspects fled the scene in a white VW polo.

The police are investigating a business robbery case.
