Police search for trio

KwaThema - A shop owner sustained an injury to his head and a 26-year-old suspect was arrested during a business robbery on Friday.

According to police spokesman, Capt Thabo Sibuyi, at about 3am four men went to a tuck shop situated at the Riverside area on Mohlala Street.

The group went onto the roof and and cut the sheet of zinc to gain entrance.

“Three of the men stayed on the roof while one of them (26) allegedly went in, which woke up the shop owners who were inside the shop.

“The young man hit one of the shop owners (49) on the head while the other owner was able to contact the police.

“The shop owners also managed to scream for help, neighbours woke up and the trio on the roof ran, while the one inside the shop was arrested at the scene,” says Sibuyi.

The injured owner was taken to a nearby hospital for medical treatment.

Police are investigating a case of business robbery and are still looking for the other three men.
