Ntokozweni Primary School stands out

KwaThema – On Saturday, last week, four learners from Ntokozweni Primary School attended the provincial library showcase, at the Soweto College.

The purpose of the event was for the learners to conduct a presentation on the functionality of their school library.

The four selected Grade Seven learners from the school were Andile Gxowa, Lulama Makaula, Ntombi Ngwenya and Sfiso Sithole.

Teacher Mxolisi Vincent Sibanyoni explains that the showcase was not a competition, but a way to help schools which do not have functional libraries to improve their facilities.

He adds that this was beneficial, as the learners met their peers and learnt about things such as the ”Drop all and Read initiative” and reading clubs, which promote reading among learners, and which can be implemented as schools focus on establishing a functional library.

“We are proud of the learners, as they have done well, since their journey of the showcase first began on September 8, when they attended the library showcase at Brapkan Primary School, which was at district level,” Sibanyoni says.

“After having done well at the district level, the school was again one of those selected to represent the Gauteng East District in the provincial library showcase.”
