Sijaji wants to write

Geluksdal – Writer and poet Andile Sijaji (25) has big dreams of becoming one of the best writers to come out of South Africa.

His writing ability dates back to high school where he enjoyed writing speeches and scripts for plays.

After his peers and family told him that he has a gift, he began to take it more seriously and started writing more often to hone his talent.

After completing his matric he couldn’t afford to further his studies, leaving him with nothing but his talent, which he plans to live by.

Sijaji says he has penned quite a number of poems and scripts for plays he would want to see published so others can see his talent.

“As a young aspirant writer from the township it is hard to get the help I need so I can get my work published,” he explains.

His work speaks about different issues that face the youth, such as unemployment and teenage pregnancy.

“When I write I make sure I inspire and motivate readers. My poems are mostly about love and the challenges I’ve faced throughout my life.

“I believe as a writer it’s my duty to inspire people and give them hope through my work.

“I also want to train other upcoming writers so they are well equipped and ready to face the tough world of writing,” says the poet.

He says he will continue to push for his work to be published.
