A wellness day on Heritage Day

KwaThema – Last Saturday, Kutlwano Social Organisation (KUSO) hosted a 10km family fun walk and race and wellness day in KwaThema.

This annual event saw young and old coming together at the KwaThema Sports Complex, to celebrate Heritage Day by promoting a healthy lifestyle.

Festivities began with a 10km walk and race, which started from the sports complex and went around KwaThema, ending at the complex, where a session of aerobics and medical check-ups took place.

The event is part of KUSO’s fund-raising drive to help the less privileged in the community.

According to Nixon Masuku, the communications officer, the event was aimed at getting the community involved in fund-raising, while also promoting a healthy lifestyle.

“It is imperative that our people know the importance of taking care of their bodies through exercise, so we, as an organisation, want to lead by example by getting them into the habit of walking and running,” he says.

Participants also had the opportunity to undergo medical check-ups for high blood pressure, sugar diabetes and other diseases.

“As men of the community it is our mission to play a leading role, as a community-based organisation that integrates its initiatives with aspirations of the community. We strive to achieve this by interacting with other fraternal organisations, with the purpose of building and empowering communities in order for them to realise social economic justice,” adds Masuku.
