EMPD spokesman Clifford Shongwe says the deceased are a man and woman (ages unknown).
“All the injured people were transported by ambulances to a nearby hospital for medical treatment,” he adds.
“One of the injured was the driver of the taxi, who was driving from Tsakane towards Benoni.
“It is alleged that the tyre of the vehicle burst, causing it to overturn.”
Shongwe says that, at this stage, the two deceased have yet to be identified.
