The sentence was handed to the accused on August 25, at the Springs Regional Court.
According to police spokesman, Capt Johannes Ramphora this comes after an incident that occurred on November 9, 2015.
“The complainant (age unknown) had been at a tavern in Extension Three for drinks.
“At about 12.45am when she decided to go home, the accused followed her telling her he wanted to sleep with her.
“When the woman refused Ngwenya grabbed her and took her to her shack where the crime took place,” says Ramphora.
Ngwenya will serve out his sentence at the Modderbee Prison.
