Elderly get a treat

Tsakane – The Tsakane Old Age Home residents enjoyed a treat on Monday, when they were surprised by the management of a local bank in the area.

The management staff went for a brief visit and to donate some blankets.

“As a local bank we believe in community development and giving back to the community,” says manager Lerato Masangane.

“For this reason, during some meetings we had, this home was one of those selected to receive a donation from us.

“This is just to say we love and thank our seniors, as we would not be here today without them.”

Another manager, Thabo Mofolo, adds that previously they used to assist with a community gardening project in Heidelberg, then they opted to start assisting closer to home.

“Though this is the first time we are donating blankets to this old age home, we have assisted them before in other ways,” he says.

“And people might see us more often, to help wherever possible, as we believe in giving back to our communities.”

The elderly residents were ecstatic about the visit and thanked the bank for thinking of them.

“Thank you for the blanket donation; we really appreciate it and having people come to visit us.

“We just hope that they can also assist us with our Christmas Party at the end of the year,” says a resident at the home, Tebogo Chilwane (57).

Centre manager Phoko Mokubung thanks the bank for investing in their elderly and showing them some care.

“We hope that other banks will also start coming forward to help, as we rely solely on the help of the community and their donations,” he says.
