Increase security measures, warn police

Local police have issued a warning to the community on the theft of motor vehicles and people robbing locals coming from banks.

Police spokeswoman, Lerato Mngomezulu says they have realised that these two issues have become a big problem in the area, so they want to make the community aware of them.

“We urge motorists to increase security measures on their motor vehicles,” she says.

This can be done by:

• Installing a gear lock.

• Using a steering lock.

• Using pedals locks.

• Installing an anti-hijack system.

• Putting in tracking devices.

“We also call upon the community to be aware of people who are maybe following them to the banks, when they go to withdraw a lot of cash.

“From the bank, these people will follow you and when you get home, they may attack and then rob you.

“Do not withdraw a lump sum of cash. Rather transfer funds to the respective recipient,” she warns.
