Police investigate after two shacks burnt down

KwaThema – Two shacks were torched following a murder that took place at a house in Marikana Street in Extension Three on Sunday.

According to the police, the murder occurred at about 11.20pm.

Police spokesman, Captain Thabo Sibuyi says it is alleged that a couple (ages unknown) had gotten into a fight that night.

“The woman than ran to her ex-boyfriend’s residence and told him about the clash with her man.

“But as soon as the current boyfriend arrived at the ex-boyfriend’s place, he was allegedly stabbed by the ex-boyfriend, who then allegedly fled the scene.

“The boyfriend was found by the police, lying on the ground with four stab wounds and was declared dead on the scene by paramedics,” says Sibuyi

The deceased was later identified as Gift Malatjie, says Sibuyi.

“The following day the suspect was arrested, but on Tuesday night at about 9pm some of the angry community members went back to the crime scene where they allegedly burnt two shacks at the home of the suspect.

“When the police were called they found a group of people there and two shacks on fire,” adds Sibuyi.

No arrests have been made regarding the second crime, however, police are investigating further.

“We urge the community not to take the law into their own hands.

“Let the law take its course,” encourages Sibuyi.
