Motivation for learners in Tsakane

Tsakane – Learners of Khombindlela Primary School in Tsakane were awarded certificates after completing the Kemoja Programme, which aims to educate the youth about the repercussions of substance and alcohol abuse.

Last Friday learners from Grades Four to Seven who successfully completed the course were given certificates which will serve as a reminder and a promise not to get involved in substance and alcohol abuse.

The learners underwent a test that equipped them with skills and information to resist the temptations that plague the youth of today.

Khombindlela Primary School is the first school to be awarded the certificates in the area.

Programme co-ordinator, Tebogo Mojalodi says the aim of the test is to instil strong values that learners may live by and carry throughout their youth and which will assist them in making more informed decisions before they get involved in substance abuse.

“The certificates will serve as an oath they made to be responsible young people who don’t need drugs and alcohol to be cool and fit in but to educate and show other young people that substance abuse takes away from them more than they know.

“Our mission is to breed young people who are not afraid to say no to drugs and alcohol and yes to a clean and drug-free lifestyle,” she says.

Kemoja will be carrying out tests and awarding more certificates to learners in other schools around Kwatsaduza as they try to educate as many young people in the community as possible.
