Residents make they mark

Duduza – Residents in Duduza queued at their voting stations, eager to put their mark on a ballot paper and cast their vote for the local councillors and party they want in power in their municipality.

Voters at the Ezimukulu Primary School in Duduza expressed the importance of voting in order to have a say in what is happening in their community.

Resident Londi Biyela (34) says she couldn’t wait to cast her vote as she wants to see change in her community and better service delivery.

“I believe it is everyone’s responsibility to go and vote to participate in what is happening in the country and also to exercise their voice to choose who they want in power,” she says.

Another voter, Thokozile Kheswa (40), says it is of utmost importance to vote in the municipal elections as they are closer to us as residents and will understand the issues we face as a community, so choosing the right people is very crucial.

At Duduza Primary School the queue was getting longer as senior citizens and the youth were getting ready to get to the voting cubicles.

Senior citizen Grace Magaso (68) explained her reason to vote was simply for a better life for herself and her grandchildren, adding that she hopes the people she will be voting for will bring about the change that is much needed in her community.

Sbongile Magaso (27), says as a young person she wants employment opportunities, free education and for senior citizens to get the best services in the country.
