A call to young writers

The local Talents and Arts Organisation in searching for young pupils who are interested in learning more about creative writing and publishing.

Project founder and manager of the organisation, Vusi Nhlapho says this initiative is to help in promoting creative writing and writing of short stories in the townships.

“We are looking for children from around Kwatsaduza who are in Grade Seven or Eight to participate in this project.

“Interested learners should email a paragraph of 100 words on what they like, to slao@webmail.co.za.

“They should also include their names and surnames, ages and which schools they are from, and this should be done by August 31,” he says.

Nhlapho adds that the top 15 selected candidates will be called for training sessions to be held in Duduza in September and October.

Then in November, that group will also get an opportunity to visit a publishing house, to see how things work there.

Afterwards they will get certificates and awards.

Parents who are interested in this initiative for their children are encouraged to contact Nhlapho on 072 884 3263 for more information.
