Blazers donated to learners

Duduza – Duduzekani Tshidisehang Community Projects (DTCP) wrapped up the month of July by putting smiles on the faces of high school learners in Duduza.

The organisation donated a total of 30 school blazers to learners from the five secondary schools in Duduza on Saturday.

The majority of the organisation’s members had attended the local secondary schools, making it an easy decision to pass on the baton and identify six learners per school to be beneficiaries of a brand-new school blazer.

Some learners come from disadvantaged backgrounds and their parents cannot afford to buy full school uniforms for entry-level students, which often may result in low self-esteem in those who do not have a full uniform.

Katiso Ranthla, chairman of the organisation, says owning a blazer gives out the message that one is smart and clever and thus helps learners feel good about themselves.

“We identify top achieving learners from each school who didn’t have the privilege of owning a blazer, which will take them right through the end of their matric year.

“We encourage them to love school, stay clean, study and respect time and dream big,” he says.

In future DTCP commits itself to adopt the learners to help where needs be in their academic career.

“We commit ourselves to keep the learners motivated and encouraged throughout their high school career,” he adds.
